Role Description
The Studio Experience Team Lead is a part-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA, responsible for overseeing the daily front-of-house operations and ensuring an exceptional studio experience for all guests and members.
The Studio Experience Team (SET) is the engine of Barre Union’s culture, community and growth! SET not only provides onsite support, but also runs everything behind the scenes that make the Barre Union experience uncommonly exceptional. Team members are often the first impression and point of contact for all members, prospective clients, and guests at Barre Union.
This position plays a key role in creating an environment of Unreasonable Hospitality by ensuring smooth and positive communication between members and the rest of the team. SET also assists with daily and strategic operations, including membership acquisition, creative planning to steward current members and acquire new prospective members. SET possess excellent customer service skills, have a passion for the practice, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. SET members embody the culture and core values of Barre Union. The Team Lead coordinates staff schedules, supports instructor and front desk teams, and helps train and mentor studio experience staff to deliver consistent, high-quality service. Additional responsibilities include managing customer communications, assisting with membership sales and renewals, supporting studio events and challenges, and coordinating with management on feedback, operational improvements, and community-building initiatives.
The position involves working flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events, to support the studio’s schedule.
We are looking for those with key skills like and experience in:
Social media content creation and management event support, customer service
- Overall Brand Strategy, Studio Marketing including Social Media Platforms and Content Calendar, Event Support, Website (Squarespace), and Creative Assets.
- High degree of interpersonal skills. Comfort with phone and in-person communication.
- Problem solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot technical issues with studio platforms and systems including Zoom, Google, our studio sound system etc.
Shift Specific Roles:
Client engagement (greet new students, current members with intel, in-person and over the phone communication), manages class rosters, lead communication and discovery reach outs/follow up to reach weekly conversion goals on KPI Scorecard, highest degree of studio cleanliness and presentation, livestream setup trouble-shooting, and sends out recordings, support for instructor (mats/props), respond to emails in studio inbox, FitGrid daily follow-ups, late cancel and no show fees for classes supported, social media stories (1-3/day), and posts (1-3/week), checks studio voicemail, follow-up communication (call/text/emails), special projects, Challenges & events support. Checks & Updates Trello for client call-outs, announcements, and Lead to-dos, checks off all shift responsibilities and work-flow off. Communicating with SET regularly, and attends ALL SET Team 1-2x/monthly meetings.
Qualifications
- Exceptional customer service and hospitality skills, including the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere, manage check-ins, and respond to client inquiries with professionalism and care.
- Team leadership and coordination capabilities, such as experience supervising staff, training team members, and managing schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Operational and organizational skills, including attention to detail, high degree of studio cleanliness, and effective use of booking or point-of-sale systems.
- Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse clients, handle feedback, and collaborate clearly with instructors and management.
- Sales and community-building skills, including comfort discussing memberships, promoting events and challenges, and supporting client retention efforts.
- Interest in fitness, wellness, or group exercise environments; prior experience in a studio, gym, or similar customer-facing setting is preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform light physical tasks related to studio setup and cleanliness, and work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in fitness, hospitality, or business is a plus.
