Overview

Applied Physical Sciences is looking for a highly motivated Associate Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our Pawcatuck, CT team. Successful candidates will have a B.S. degree in electrical and/or computer engineering technology with a focus in analog and digital circuit building and testing, system wiring and integration. Professional experience of 0 to 3 years is desired but not required. Successful applicants will support Engineering staff with the implementation of electrical designs, be able to read and update schematics, conduct bench tests of circuits using lab equipment and help organize and coordinate engineering efforts in both an office and shop production environment. Candidates must have a solid technical foundation in circuit theory, have good organization and communication skills, and be willing to work hands on with electronic circuits and systems. Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Support engineering staff in the production, integration, and test of electronic systems
  • Support setup and execution of factory acceptance test procedures
  • Support procurement of printed circuit boards and other project materials
  • Support creation, updates, and tracking of engineering process instructions
  • Support execution of small-scale engineering tests, data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • Support test and troubleshooting of electrical assemblies and wire harnesses

Required Skills And Attributes

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience with concentration in electrical or computer engineering
  • Proven experience building and testing circuits and electrical systems
  • Experience with common lab equipment: oscilloscopes, voltage probes, multi-meters, Meg-Ohm Meters, Signal Analyzers etc.
  • Capability to read electrical schematics and work with an Electrical CAD program to update electrical drawings.
  • Hands on experience working on electrical assemblies, ability to solder, and proficiency with basic hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills leveraging MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) – this role is a team position built around communicating with and supporting engineering staff.

Preferred Skills And Attributes

  • Experience with Altium Design
  • Experience with PCB board design, layout, and procurement.
  • Basic knowledge of a coding language, Python, C/C++
  • Interest in supporting production of complex electrical assemblies
