Position Title
Residence Facilities Housekeeper

Job Responsibilities

This is a 40-hour per week position and reports directly to the Residence Facilities Supervisor and is responsible for cleaning, hauling trash and recycling, changing light bulbs, and other tasks within the assigned areas. In the summer responsibilities include cleaning student rooms in all residential buildings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean campus dorms, classrooms, lounges, entrances, corridors, stairs, offices, restrooms, and other spaces in University buildings.
  • Floor and fixture care, window and door cleaning, trash removal, changing light bulbs, and other minor maintenance.
  • Check and fill soap, towel, and toilet paper dispensers in public restrooms.
  • Haul trash from inside buildings to outdoor dumpsters.
  • Haul recycling bins from collection areas to pick-up locations.
  • Follow prescribed procedures for disposal of fluorescent and HID light bulbs.
  • Request supplies as needed.
  • Maintain orderly storage of supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Special event set-up and tear-down.
  • Oversight of student workers.
  • Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to read and understand product instructions and safety precautions.
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum sweepers, rags, spray bottles, and squeegees.
  • Ability to operate power equipment such as extractors, scrubbers, and buffers.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Ability to climb and work from stepladders up to 8 feet tall.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor, co-workers, and building occupants about work-related issues.
  • Ability to communicate using a two-way radio.
  • Ability to work other shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior professional housekeeping work experience.

Salary
The wage for this position starts at $15.25 hourly.
