POSITION SUMMARY• The ARRT Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.• Perform a variety of tasks involved in pertaining x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated body portions. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines. (ALARA)OVERVIEW• The evaluation is to assure individual performance, departmental goals and organizational goals are aligned. It is designed to support communication between the manager and the employee. Employee perception of their own performance is very important. Following are the essential functions of the position, along with the corresponding performance standards.o Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients as evidenced by: Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation patients. Responsible for safe handling of equipment. Instructs and prepares patients for examinations. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patient accordingly. Makes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as: intravenous pyelograms, mammograms (per license), hysterosalpingograms, tomograms, arthrograms and surgical procedures. Programs portable or stationary imaging equipment and makes images for a variety of examinations. Processes images Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports. Assists in maintaining files as required. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel. Interacts professionally with patient and family members. Completes all work before clocking out leaving, this includes checking with the organizer/ supervisor as needed. Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations as well as hospital codes. Complies and maintains quality assurance information for all States Agencies and regulatory departments, such as FDA, State, JCAHO, and the ACR, as required. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population. Completes and maintains assigned duties.• Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens as evidenced by: Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment. Attends annual education programs. Wears and/or uses appropriate safety equipment.• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment as evidenced by: Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner as observed by manager and peers.
