Machine Operator – 1st shift and 3rd Shift

Position Summary

The Heavy Milling Operator is a cross-functional position responsible for supporting all major operations within the Heavy Milling Department, including saw operations, edge banding, panel processing, and specialty part production. The role directly impacts customer satisfaction and company profitability.

Due to the physical demands of this position, proper lifting techniques, body mechanics, and safe work practices must be consistently utilized.

 

Essential Functions

  • Review and organize production paperwork, work orders, invoices, and Kan Ban cards.

  • Set up, program, operate, and monitor production equipment.

  • Verify materials, wood species, and production specifications prior to processing.

  • Perform cutting, drilling, grooving, edge banding, notching, and other machining operations as required.

  • Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections.

  • Identify and correct quality issues, defects, and process deviations.

  • Maintain production standards while meeting daily output goals.

  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, carry, push up to 50 pounds, and pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.

  • Frequently handle materials weighing 10 to 25 pounds.

  • Perform frequent reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, walking, and standing.

  • Work with cabinet components, wood panels, and sheet goods of varying sizes and weights.

  • Maintain productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of metric and standard measurements and effective use and understanding of calipers

  • Material handling equipment

  • Roller carts, pallets, and lift tables

  • Hand tools and measuring devices
