Description:

The Director of Development is a senior fundraising executive responsible for leading and expanding the philanthropic revenue for the client, an organization committed to improving the lives of those affected by a rare genetic disorder. This role involves reporting directly to the Executive Director and partnering closely with them to design and implement a comprehensive national fundraising strategy. The Director is tasked with engaging donors deeply, enhancing the fundraising infrastructure, and significantly increasing revenue from diverse sources. Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership and vision across all fundraising activities, with a focus on establishing and achieving philanthropic culture goals. This involves developing a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that incorporates major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation partnerships, grants, sponsorships, and planned giving. The Director will personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and oversee the entire donor lifecycle. Collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors is crucial to maximize relationships, to support peer-to-peer fundraising, and to enhance donor engagement nationwide. The role also requires directing all aspects of the development operation to meet or exceed revenue targets, managing departmental budgets, and measuring fundraising performance through defined metrics. Partnering with the Director of Special Events, the Director ensures that all signature events and sponsorship initiatives yield strong financial outcomes and meaningful engagements. Further responsibilities include building and managing a comprehensive grants strategy, strengthening organizational infrastructure, adhering to ethical standards, and optimizing fundraising systems. The candidate must have at least seven years of progressive leadership in fundraising, a successful track record in securing significant gifts, and proven experience in spearheading comprehensive development programs. Strong strategic, analytical, and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this role.
