<p><i><b>About the Unit — Med Surg 5E </b></i></p>

<p>Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.</p>

<p><i><b>Overview</b></i></p>

<p>Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. <p><i><b>Qualifications</b></i></p>

<p><b>Education: </b>Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:</p>

<ul><li><p>Associate Degree in Nursing</p></li><li><p>Nursing Diploma</p></li><li><p>Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)</p></li></ul>

<p><b>Licensure: </b>Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.</p>

<p><b>Experience: </b>Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.</p>

<p><b>Certifications:</b></p>
