Job Summary Supervises and coordinates patient care activities on assigned shift. Directs professional and non-professional nursing personnel; participates in staff development and evaluation of staff on assigned shift. Assists in direct patient care. Represents department managers and hospital administration in their absence. Participates in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties include

Provides services in compliance with all State and Federal laws governing the hospital’s operations; assure confidentiality for patients and staff records and information.
Supervises and directs the delivery of patient care on assigned shift.
Plans staffing of oncoming shift/s based on patient census, care needs, and staff competency.
Demonstrates appropriate management skills and behaviors.
Assesses staff competency.
Directs appropriate response to emergent, life threatening, or safety situations.
Directs patient care activities in designated circumstances.
Coordinates/Directs total hospital operations (in absence of managers and/or administration).
Fosters a climate consistent with continuous quality improvement principles.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job
Education: Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Experience: Three (3) years current clinical nursing experience.
Preferred: Previous supervisory or management experience.
License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse license
Certification(s): Reference Mandatory Education for Clinical and Support Staff Policy for most current Certification requirements.

The Community Health Nurse provides consultation, education and direction to individuals, families and staff.
Qualifications
Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License
Must have 2 years of RN experience
Must have Pediatric and Community Health experience
Must have training in Nursing Oversight and Care Management
Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Position continually requires demonstrative poise, tact, and diplomacy
Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends, travel to clients residency.
